Did you know that getting a regular massage can actually prevent you from becoming sick by boosting your immune system? 

Keeping your body in good working condition this cold and flu season can help prevent you from getting sick in the first place. Here's what massage has to offer for your immune system this fall: 
  • Patients that received a massage of at least 45 minutes showed an increased number of white blood cells. 
  • Massages can lower the level of cortisol the stress hormone. When your cortisol levels are reduced, more serotonin is released. This is associated with a better immune system. 
  • Patients who received massage showed a decreased level of cytokines which are connected to high levels of inflammation. Chronic inflammation can be associated with asthma, cardiovascular disease, and depression.
